Visa
There are two categories of US visas: immigrant and non-immigrant. Immigrant visas are for people who intend to live permanently in the US. Non-immigrant visas are for people with permanent residence outside the US, but who wish to be in the US on a temporary basis (work, study, business, tourism, etc.) Except for a few types of visa renewals, visas cannot be issued inside American borders; therefore, you must be outside the US to get a visa.

Naturalization
Becoming a US Citizen gives one many privileges that are not afforded to a Lawful Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder). Immigration laws provide certain aliens the opportunity to become naturalized citizens with full rights of citizenship.

Green Card
The popular name for the Alien Registration Receipt Card, which is given to individuals who become legal permanent residents of the US. (Although the card was once green, it is presently pink.)
